Gamed VR experience for science communication
Partnership with Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS), 2023

Brief

The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) is Scotland's largest and oldest independent marine science organisation, delivering marine science for a productive and sustainably managed marine environment through innovative research, education and engagement with society.

To research and explore the ecological, scientific, political, planetary, and philosophical implications of industrial marine infrastructures at different scales and from different perspectives:

. To develop schematics for a 'gamed' VR experience that can share the work and research being led at SAMS with audiences in an exciting and interactive way, to be shared with and influence key stakeholders (public, industry, regulators, policymakers)
. Explore potential future dynamics and variables that might inform their development
. Develop experiential, immersive encounters with underwater ecosystems that would be viewed through Occulus VR headsets
. Combine 3D models of marine growth (supplied by SAMS) and superimpose them onto models of man made structures (generic or supplied by industry)
. VR experience should enable participants to fly-around the structure, with 'contextual' (e.g. fish, the seabed, currents, climate, etc) elements informing various levels of the game
